Markus Walenzyk taucht sein Gesicht immer wieder in flüssiges Wachs und lagert so Schicht für Schicht eine Wachsmaske an, die ihm das Atmen erschwert und sein Äußeres verändert. Nach und nach entstehen neue Porträts, die anfangs an eine Totenmaske oder auch ein zeitloses Marmorbildnis aus der Antike erinnern, sich aber allmählich in eine groteske Maske verwandeln.

While dipping his face into liquid wax, Markus Walenzyk accumulates a mask layer by layer. The wax layering on his face changes his appearance and makes it more and more difficult for him to breathe. Bit by bit different portraits of a man take shape that are initially reminiscent of a death mask or a timeless marble image of a classical ancient figure, but gradually metamorphose into a grotesque mask.
